“Drinking Local” and “keep it simple” are once again my mottos for my Sunday afternoon wine today. The wine I have in my glass is a fresh young Riesling from our charming neighbours. The Singer-Bader winery is just a stone’s throw from us here in the village centre.
Since the 16th century, the two families from which it grew have produced wine here in the Rems Valley. With much dedication, Babs and Julian manage their vineyards now organically. The red wines grow directly above our village, the Riesling in the neighbouring community of Stetten on the sandstone soils around the ruins of Y-burg. The bare soils provide elegance and straightness.
For me, their 2019 Stetten Riesling is just what you need to recharge your batteries for the evening. Fresh acidity, lean structure with a fine minerality on the palate framed by lime, apple and a slight herbal note.
You can hardly get more pleasure for eight euros. Of course, the wine tastes best when drunk directly in the vineyard.
