Prokupac Day

  • Post category:tastings

Chill-out after a long day. I raise the glass for the Prokupac Day tomorrow. I gave a live presentation via Zoom for Serbian wine professionals about the market perspectives of Prokupac. Unfortunately, COVID made it impossible for me to visit Belgrade these day to speak directly to the audience, meet friends and taste other Prokupac wines.

Prokupac is an indigenous Serbian grape variety which has the potential to attract an international audience. It is known since medieval times and produces wines with intense colour, fruit and subtle spices. I had the Ivanovic Prokupac 2012 in my glass.

The wine comes from Zupa, one of the oldest Serbian wine regions. It has developed very well. Ruby colour with garnet reflexes. Plum, dark cherries with savoury, spicy notes. Fresh acidity, smooth tannins and a medium length.
