Lafite 2008 at Esterhazy

What a great sip during the Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Tasting at Schloss Esterhazy the day before yesterday. The 2008 Lafite Rothschild, which Lafite CEO Jean-Guillaume Prats had in his luggage, showed all his strengths.

With its noticeable acidity, medium weight and fine yet grippy tannins, the wine perfectly reflects the cooler character of the classic 2008 vintage.

The aroma spectrum reflects the over 80 per cent share of Cabernet Sauvignon. Delicate cassis notes, red pepper, blackberry, underbrush, cedar, tobacco, pencil point, liquorice, some mint and a salty spiciness on the finish. Fine-grained tannins, very focused and with excellent length.

Not loud, just classically refined Lafite Rothschild
